Rehearsal Cancelled

I just had a telephone call from Viki at the Unitarian. The church is flooded and all activities have been cancelled. I'm really sorry that this is such short notice but tonights rehearsal has been cancelled.

I'm on my way to the church and will try to sort things out for anyone who doesn't get this message.

See you all next week!

Welcome back!

Dear Friends,

I do hope you’ve enjoyed - and are still enjoying! -  a good Summer break.

As there’s just one week to go before we meet up again, (I can’t believe it either!!) I thought it about time that I send you some details about what we’ll be doing during our first rehearsal back and whet your appetitive for the coming season.  It certainly promises to be a busy one!

JUST TO REMIND YOU - CONCERT DETAILS
The concert dates already in the diary are as follows:

Fri 2 Dec:
Big Help Christmas Carol Concert at the Metropolitan Cathedral
Thurs 8 Dec:
Christmas Carol Concert at St George’s Hall for Prostate Cancer UK
Fri 9 Dec:
“Deck the Hall - A Seasonal Celebration” - in the Unitarian Church’s Baronial Hall.

In addition, other events are planned, including the long-awaited return of our informal Arts Cafés!  - more details about this and future events to be revealed soon.

I’m very much looking forward to meeting up again.

Very best wishes,

An Invitation to all Liverpool Voice members

Dear Friends,

I hope you’re enjoying a good Summer break.

Fran emailed me to let me know that members of the Ukrainian Community  in Liverpool, and staff from The Big Help Project, will be celebrating Ukrainian Independence Day, which is being held on Wednesday 24 August.

Two of the ladies from the Ukrainian community that meet with Fran on a regular basis asked if Liverpool Voice would join them and sing for during this celebratory ecumenical service, being held at the Metropolitan Cathedral.  I explained that, whilst we would have loved to do this, it would be difficult to amass enough voices as we are currently on our Summer break; Fran understood this.  The best that I could do was to send our recording - the one done specially for SNP’s Candle Project - and to offer our support for future events.

I did wonder, however, if some of you may like to go to the event, and so I’ve included the details here.

If you do want to go I know Fran and the community would be delighted.  I would have attended but I’m away on holiday next week.  If you do intend going please would you be so kind as to let me know and I’ll inform Fran who will ‘look out for you’ and perhaps introduce you to some of the community - which would be so good!

Very best wishes - and looking forward to seeing you soon.  It’s not long off now!!

Choral Classics - A Concert for Ukraine: Article in Catholic Pictorial

Good Morning Everyone,

Fran, from the Big Help Project, has sent me the link for the Catholic Pictorial’s latest issue with the write-up of our “Choral Classics - A Concert for Ukraine” concert.  I know that you’ve already seen the photo but thought you would be interested in reading the article.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the publication, the Catholic Pictorial has a wide distribution and is available to all members of congregations within the Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool, an archdiocese of the Catholic Church that covers the Isle of Man and parts of North West England.

Cheque Presentation

Dear Friends,

This morning Jan and I joined Peter Mitchel (CEO for The Big Help Project) for a presentation of the cheque to Father Taras at The Big Help Project’s Head Office in Boaler Street, off Sheil Road.  The photo will appear in the Catholic Pictorial shortly together with some coverage of the concert.  It is gratifying to know that the money we raised will go directly to members of the local Ukrainian Community who have recently come to live in Liverpool.

Peter was most appreciate of our efforts and the sum of money we raised and also said how much he was looking forward to seeing us again at the Big Help Christmas Carol Concert in the Crypt of the Metropolitan Cathedral.

He also shared with us that, owing to the publicity promoting our concert - “A Concert for Ukraine” - which linked us with the Big Help Project, he had been contacted by someone who subsequently donated £10.000.  - so, there you are: big oaks from little acorns DO grow!  Well done everybody!  Fran, who initiated the taking of the photo, once again wished to say thank you to you all.

Fran was also very grateful to Rose who, last night, brought in boxes of cleaning products; these had been donated by Unilever and passed on by the kindness of the governors at Woodchurch High School.  The items will be distributed today to members of the Ukrainian Community who, each Friday, join Father Taras for Mass and community projects at The Big Help Project headquarters.

Well done to one and all!

Looking forward to seeing you this evening for “Choral Classic” - concert No.2.

Jan Sloan, Father Taras, Peter Mitchel and Lesley Bentley are presenting a cheque of £2465.25 to the Big Help Project
