Liverpool Voice Rehearsals

Dear All,

Just to let you know that I have received a letter from the Church Administrator regarding the Church closing times over the Easter break.  The closure, over two weeks, means that after our rehearsal on Thursday 7 April there will be two missed rehearsals and we will be able to return on Thursday 28 April.

I have included the letter, sent by the Church Administrator and Phil Waldron, below.

Best wishes,

Lesley

Many thanks - and date of next rehearsal. HAPPY CHRISTMAS! 🎄

Dear Friends,

Many thanks to those who were able to come and sing outside Ann and Mike’s house last night. It was a very enjoyable and special occasion and good to have the opportunity to sing our Christmas repertoire. Thanks to Mike and Ann for having us there and for the hot, all butter mince pies. Delicious!

The Unitarian Church opens its doors for community activities again on Monday 10 January and our next rehearsal is scheduled for Thursday 13 January. Following on from our ‘Sing & Promalong’ at Princes Park last October, there had been some interest from the Friends of Princes Park, in taking us up on the offer of a tree Wassailing event: traditionally this is enacted on Twelfth Night - the 6 January - which, this year, falls on a Thursday. I haven’t heard anything more regarding this so I don’t think (for a variety of reasons!) it will happen but I’ll keep you updated. It would be fun to ‘Wassail the Silver Apple!’

together outside, savouring some mulled cider and festive nibbles - but I think it may well have to wait until safer times.

I realise that having both Christmas concerts cancelled, and at the last minute, wasn’t what we would have wished - particularly given how well we were sounding together - but at least the process gave us something to work towards after those months apart. And in hindsight, the voyage is often just as pleasurable, if not more so, than the arrival!

Sending you very best wishes for a very happy Christmas and for 2022. I hope you enjoy a peaceful, healthy and relaxing time.

Liverpool Voice Rehearsal, 8th of July - At last - a real rehearsal!

Dear Friends,

Good news!  I have been in touch with Viki from the Unitarian Church and all is fine for us to rehearse this Thursday.  This means that, for those of you who are free and willing, we can, at last, meet and sing together. Alleluia!! (Cue for a song I think!)

The rehearsal will run from 6.45 pm and, depending on the wishes of those present, will finish sometime between 8.30 and 9.00 pm; I noted last night that it was still light at gone 9.15 pm.

I will be sending out another email later with details of what we’ll be singing, meanwhile you may want to consider whether you need to bring something to sit on, though you may be prepared to stand for the duration.  Also, please bring your own refreshments.

We have been given the option of using the toilets and it may well be worth bringing a mask and, perhaps, some sanitiser just in case you do wish to make use of the facilities.

More details to follow.

I’m very much looking forward to seeing you again.

More later but for now……

Very best wishes,

Resuming Rehearsals - A possible way forward

Dear Friends,

We hope this email finds you well.

As we move closer to the 17 May and 21 June deadlines, and the relaxation of the current rulings as we have known them, this email aims to outline pertinent issues to enable us to move forward and, at long last, to meet and sing together.

As you are no doubt aware there is still a lot of speculation generally amongst singers about Covid and the risks of singing together. This being the case, many - for good reason - still have concerns about meeting, and, when asked for their opinions about meeting indoors for rehearsals from 17 May, most of those taking part in the Liverpool Voice Zoom rehearsal were of the opinion that they wouldn’t be comfortable with this.  However, many felt more positive about resuming rehearsals after 21 June when it was thought that the vast majority of members would have received their second vaccination.

We have been in contact with Phil Waldron, Minister for the Unitarian Church; it is his intention to open the church once again for community activities as from Monday 17 May.
The use of a space was discussed and he has confirmed that we will be able to use the Church as our regular rehearsal venue.  This will allow us plenty of room to operate in a safe and practical way - and, when the winter nights inevitably bring colder temperatures he has promised that it will be heated, which all sounds very promising and inviting.

Before we meet up it will be necessary to put protective measures and procedures in place to ensure that we can all operate in a safe and secure way; information relating to this will be sent out in good time prior to our proposed first rehearsal on Thursday 24 June.

Please know that we are keen to receive your feedback and very much welcome additional thoughts - pros and cons - and feelings you may have on this matter.

Very best wishes,

Jan and Lesley

Silent Night For The Big Help Project

It's been a strange year but the bond of music still connects us at Liverpool Voice.
Here is a seasonal gift to all our friends and supporters.

We were due to be featured in a concert for The Big Help Project this December but, for obvious reasons, that has not been possible. We are taking the opportunity to remember those less fortunate than ourselves while sharing one of our favourite carols with you all. If it is possible for you to make a small gift to The Big Help Project the details are in the video and below. They would appreciate it very much.

Wishing you all a safe and blessed Christmas and we hope to see you all again in the New Year.
