GLORIA! - An Evening of Sacred Choral Favourites

15th May 2014

'Liverpool Voice' is to present 'GLORIA! - An Evening of Sacred Choral Favourites' at St Faith's Church, Great Crosby, on Thursday 15 May 2014 at 7.30pm.

Musical Director, Lesley Bentley, said; 'In the past the choir's performances have mainly taken place within the city centre'. We have sung at the Anglican and Metropolitan Cathedrals, Liverpool Town Hall, The Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool Parish Church - Our Lady and St Nicholas Church, Pier Head and Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall for the Capital of Culture's Holocaust Commemorative Event.

Liverpool Voice has also presented concert events in the south end of the city - Sefton Park Palm House, Mossley Hill Parish Church, Bishop Eton, Woolton (for Nugent Care), and last month's Arts Cafe at Sefton Park Cricket Club.

Having received a very warm welcome during the choir's last Crosby appearance - a Christmas concert at Crosby Hall, Ince Blundell, the choir wanted to return to the Crosby area, and, given its reputation for hosting high calibre musical performances, together with its wonderful interior, St Faith's was the obvious choice'.

In addition to the evening's main choral work, Vivaldi's 'Gloria', the choir will be performing short popular works in the second half of the programme, including favourites by Mozart, Haydn, Faure, Bruckner, Tchaikovsky, Rutter and Mendelssohn. Soloists will also perform a number of well-loved sacred items including: 'Pie Jesu' and ' Libera me' from Faure's Requiem, Schubert's 'Ave Maria' and 'Lift Thine Eyes' from Mendelssohn's oratorio, 'Elijah'. Tickets for the concert are priced at £6.00 - adults, and £4.00 - concessions.

Soprano soloist, Denise Owen said: 'The choir is very much looking forward to singing in this lovely venue. We hope that people will be able to join us for a pleasant evening of favourite sacred music while supporting our two chosen charities, Nugent Care and Jospice.

Information about tickets and/or joining the choir is available from our Secretary, Corinne Lyons
